Information on the protection of individuals with reference to the processing of personal data (General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/17, art. 13)
General Policy
The processing of personal data required for the purpose of registration as a user of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago will conform to the principles of lawfulness, correctness and transparency in order to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals.
To this end, the following information is provided:
1. The Data Controller is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) of the Italian Republic which, in this specific case, operates via the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago (mailing address: 500 N. 2. 3. The provided personal data will be used in particular for the purposes and services listed in the following paragraphs. Please refer to each paragraph for more details.
4. Processing of data entered into the database is based on consent. Any refusal to provide the requested data will prevent users from accessing services.
5. Other than what specified in the following paragraphs, the processing of provided data is carried out by the staff of the IIC in a mixed mode (both manual and automated).
6. Data provided by interested parties during registration will only be processed by the Data Controller (and, in the event of outsourcing, by the Data Processor and will not be divulged to third parties).
7. Every 5 years following registration or renewal the Institute will request users to confirm, electronically, their continued interest in the service and will delete personal data of any who do not provide it, either by a non-reply or by explicit denial.
8. Interested parties may request access to their personal data and the correction of the same. Without prejudice to any consequences on accessibility to services, they may also request the cancellation of such data, as well as limitation of – or opposition to - data processing. In these cases, interested parties must submit a specific request to Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago, and notify MAECI DPO of the same.
9. If you believe your rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the MAECI DPO. Proposals of cultural events
In order to evaluate and organize cultural events, the Institute stores the personal data included in each proposal and their application.
Unsolicited applications for internships
Considering the ministerial provisions with regard to internships and the MAECI-MIUR-CRUI Convention, unsolicited CVs and applications will be deleted upon their receipt.
Unsolicited applications for recruitment and volunteering
Considering the legislation about employment and volunteering, unsolicited CVs and applications will be deleted upon their receipt.
Unsolicited applications for teaching Italian language and culture
The Institute is currently outsourcing its language courses. Consequently, it has no role in teacher recruitment and, for reasons of impartiality, cannot forward applications for teaching Italian to the program manager. Unsolicited CVs and applications will therefore be deleted upon their receipt.
