Screening of "La dolce vita" (1960, 174 min) by Federico Fellini

Screening of

in Italian with English subtitles

with Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Anouk Aimée

In a Rome transformed through the pages of a tabloid, the frenzy of “divismo,” and the free-thinking of urbanization, Fellini features Marcello Rubino, a journalist who is as handsome and beloved as he is invisible and inept.  Mastroianni creates the figure of a tragic and unsatisfied viveur.  The character of Marcello allows Fellini to erect a continuity between a series of episodes without any precise narrative tie, while telling the story of the involution of the personality, while painting a fresco of the various socio-economic realities of Rome.
