Legendary Italian director Luchino Visconti’s lush, baroque adaptation of Thomas Mann’s classic novella focuses on a quiet, middle aged composer (Dirk Bogarde) and his deep infatuation for an angelic looking teenage boy (Björn Andrésen) he encounters while vacationing for his health in early 20th century Venice.

Presented by the Queer Film Society, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago.
