Screening of the film “The Face of an Angel”

The notorious Italian murder trial of Amanda Knox is the catalyst for this mirror-image fictional narrative, but director Winterbottom (THE TRIP TO ITALY, THE TRIP) pulls an artful bait-and-switch as he employs his signature talent for evoking the haunting allure of Italian locations. The film focuses on the labyrinthine story of Thomas Lang (Brühl), a filmmaker who disdains the trial’s heated media frenzy to trace the hazy trail of the murder victim. In the manner of Dante, Lang is led into the lower depths of the Tuscan city of Siena by two muses, an elusive journalist (Beckinsale) and a wild-child British student (Cara Delevingne).
