Carlo Fierens: A Guitar Tribute Concert to Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco

Guitarist Carlo Fierens will perform a special recital featuring two masterpieces written by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968), one of the foremost Italian composers of the 20th century, who found shelter in the United States after the infamous racial laws of 1938. Presented in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his death.

Carlo Fierens was born in Finale Ligure, Italy. He started studying guitar with his father Guillermo, an internationally celebrated guitarist. He completed a BA and MA degree from the University of Cremona in musicology. In 2013, he won the Italian National Prize for the Arts, a prize awarded by the Ministry of Education to the best music student among all conservatories and music schools in Italy. He is currently pursuing his doctorate with Ernesto Bitetti at the Jacobs School of Music (Indiana University), where he also serves as Associate Instructor.
