Tribute to Gioachino Rossini

presented by musicologists Jesse Rosenberg, Northwestern University and Robert Kendrick, University of Chicago

On the occasion of the birth of the great composer born in Pesaro on February 29, 1792, Musicologists Jesse Rosenberg, Northwestern University and Robert Kendrick, University of Chicago, will pay tribute to Rossini through three of his most celebrated operas: La gazza ladra (The Magpie Thief), L’italiana in Algeri (The Italian Girl in Algiers) and Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville). Scenes from these three operas performed in recent editions of the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro will be shown. This will be an occasion for guests to witness the historical and artistic heritage, as well as the beauty of Pesaro and the Marche Region.

Presented by the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro.
