La Nostra Vita (Our Life), directed by Daniele Luchetti (2010, 95’)
From Friday, February 25 at 1:00pm CT through Monday, February 28 at 1:00pm CT
Claudio (Elio Germano) is a 30-year-old construction worker, employed by one of the many sites of suburban Rome. He is merries, with two kids and a third one on the way. The relationship with his wife Elena (Isabella Ragonese) is one of great partnership, vitality, sensuality. Suddenly, their happy life is turned upside down: Elena dies and Claudio is not ready to be alone. He pushes back on pain and shifts his grief toward the wrong direction. He desperately tries to challenge his destiny, and to provide himself and his kids with all they never had before: comfort, money, whims, vacations—in other words “stuff.” To satisfy his family, he ends up dealing with something bigger than himself. When he realizes he won’t be able to keep on going by himself, Claudio is forced to turn to his extremely maternal sister (Stefania Montorsi), the shy and clumsy brother (Raoul Bova), and the drug dealer next door (Luca Zingaretti).
