The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago and ART on THE MART are proud to announce a new joint project with the video installation “ORA The limits of the planet”, by Italian creative collective IMAGINARIUM. The installation will be on view from July 10th through September 7th activating the façade of the Merchandise Mart in downtown Chicago.
“ORA The limits of the planet” is a visionary multimedia work created by Francesca Pasquinucci and Davide Giannoni of IMAGINARIUM, with original music composed by Davide Giannoni. The installation explores urgent themes surrounding climate change, the loss of environmental awareness, and the evolving relationship between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. Developed in collaboration with experts in climatology and space science, “ORA” blends poetic storytelling with scientific insight. The work combines traditional felt-tip pen illustrations on paper with digital animation, inviting viewers on a surreal and immersive journey through the concept of the planet’s ecological and existential limits.
July 10 – September 7
Every week, Thursday through Sunday, 9-9:30pm
This is a free recurring event. No registration required.
IMAGINARIUM is a Tuscan studio, awarded in 2018 as Italian Excellence for Art by the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and the Iacc Italy – America Chamber of Commerce West, deals with set design and visual arts for classical and pop music and opera. It is directed by DAVIDE GIANNONI and FRANCESCA PASQUINUCCI, who, after their musical, literary, artistic and theatrical studies, developed their research by focusing on the interaction between traditional material arts and digital arts, turning their interest to videomapping as a tool for narration and the creation of dreamlike spaces, finding in it a further device for the study and evolution of their surreal style, anchored in the rules of poetry and ideational madness from Italian Baroque theater.
ART ON THE MART, presented in partnership with Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), is one of the world’s largest digital art platforms that transforms an architectural landmark into a permanent, larger-than-life canvas. A shining example of Chicago’s long-standing commitment to public art, ART on THE MART brings cutting-edge video mapping techniques to Chicago’s Riverwalk, displaying projections of contemporary art across the 2.5-acre façade of THE MART, the largest privately held commercial building in the United States, internationally recognized as a global innovator in culture, design, and technology.
