On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, in collaboration with the American Jewish Committee, presents the history of the San Sabba Rice Mill, the only Italian Nazis camp with a crematory oven.

Francesca Pitacco, designated expert of the San Sabba Rice Mill Commission nominated by the City of Trieste, will analyze the historical context that led to the development of the camp in Trieste, all the way to the construction of its National Monument. To better understand the time when the Rice Mill was active as a concentration camp (1943-45) the presentation will be followed by the projection of a short documentary video, which includes historical photographic documentation and testimonies of people who had been deported there.
